Last Monday I underwent a dental surgery procedure which has kept me away from the yoga studio. I anticipate going back next Tuesday for session number 3 ... Healing is happening and I don't want to rush things...
I am going to a 6:00 am session next...to see if I like it...mornings are my most energetic time..
I am where my feet are planted...not living in the past or the future...reading Pam Grout's E squared book...very interesting...
Monkey mind is still an issue!!!!

Into The Heat
Attending a Brikram Hot Yoga session was on my bucket list for quite a while.. I did my internet research and asked my questions and last week took the plunge and attended 2 classes. I went to the first session with an acquaintance who was very familiar with the club and the practice which really helped getting me through the studio door and onto my mat.
In both sessions I sweated and sweated and sweated. No surprise there! Both instructors were great and lead us through the postures with the right amount of guidance and encouragement. At the first session I found myself chuckling at times and smiling at myself in the mirror..the 90 minutes went surprisingly well and quickly..a little bit of "monkey mind" to contend with but I managed for the most part to stay "grounded".... Session 2 was a different story. Tired from the session the day before I started in a somewhat depleted physical state. Josh the instructor had told me to make it back as soon as I could, so here I was...However my "mind set" was different..less resolve. The poses proved more difficult and by about minute 75 I was done physically. Monkey mind kicked in big time and I flamed out for the last 2 sets. Laying in corpse pose I tried to regroup as the class proceeded. Not dizzy or nauseous but feeling weak and anxious I felt I couldn't go on. I talked myself out of participating ...All kinds of random "thoughts" started cascading through my mind and I noticed my breathing had become more shallow...I was done...I laid on my mat pushing down on the acupuncture sites between my thumb and index finger to activate some energy reserve...at the same time wishing the class be over so I could escape into the cooler air of the lobby...a totally different experience from the first session.
I decided to wear my bicycle shorts which turned out not to be a " fit for purpose" decision..soaked and uncomfortable they didn't work out as planned...
